How to Upload the Best Quality Picture to Shutterfly

For pics uploaded to shutterfly, what resolution?

For pics uploaded to shutterfly, what resolution?

I am using shutterfly to share my pictures with family and friends. At what resolution should I load the pictures, for a friend to get good results if south/he wants to order prints through shutterfly?

I use PS Elements, and to load to shutterfly, I do batch processing, saving as a low rez jpeg. This gives me nigh a 300 to 500 k file. If I save at a resolution of 300 the photograph is over 1mb. This is large to load even with my DSL connection, especialy if I am loading multiple pics!

So what settings should I use to load pictures to Shutterfly, specially if friends want to impress?

Cheers,

Cliff

If y'all want printables, ...

Re: For pics uploaded to shutterfly, what resolution?

If you are going to print, 300dpi (ppi) is the resolution that is loosely regarded as "photo quality" for inkjet prints. I've likewise had skillful 300dpi digital prints via photographic process made up a Ritz (no comments please ;•0 )

If you employ photoshop, you can play with the jpg quality setting at save fourth dimension to reduce file size. Maybe you could take a single file and save it 10 or 12 of the various jpg-qualities and have a gear up printed. Compare and chose. The pocket-size investment might pay for itself via the cognition y'all gain.

Information technology may besides exist that the small size of the print, if it is downsampled from a large original, will finer mask whatever jpg artifacts nowadays.

Hope this helps a little,
Shelby

Thanks, Shelby. I will try 300dpi

Thanks, Shelby. I will relieve the images via PSE to be 300 dpi and run into what size image (kb) that gives me.

It will exist interesting to come across what file size this gives me. If information technology is huge, I volition have to save at a lower dpi, every bit i of the main reasons that I am trying online is and then that people tin can expect AND Print at my snapshoots online. If the file is likewise large, the people with wearisome connections won't be able to view easily.

Re: Thanks, Shelby. I will endeavor 300dpi

Y'all desire to upload the best resolution that you can get for printing - regardless of the size. You mentioned that you have a loftier speed connectedness (DSL) then it shouldn't be a problem. I upload 100'southward of photos at a time to shutterfly and have no problem with 3-iv mb files. Just start the upload process at dark before you go to bed and they will exist washed earlier you get up

Re: Thank you, Shelby. I will effort 300dpi

Shutterfly doesn't accept TIFF files (unfortunately) then I convert my 17MB TIFFS into a 3-5MB JPGs before printing there. I print 20X30 with groovy qualit, despite the JPG file. You may only demand 200 DPI depending on the level of item in your photo.

Does anyone know a site that prints high quality 20X30 and acccepts TIFF big files?

Simply what virtually the people with slow connections?

Cheers tbdphotog.

Y'all are correct that with my DSL I could upload big files at night. But I likewise want to use Shutterfly to let friends and family unit to look at the photos. Many of them have slow connections, so need low-rez for that.

Does Shutterfly allow me to upload hullo-rez for press and then somehow convert to low-rez for easy viewing? Or exercise I need to upload 2 files, a hi-rez for printing and a depression-rez for viewing?

What do you call back?

Cliff

Re: But what about the people with slow connections?

They do that! Regardless of the resolution that you upload - when others become to view the shared images off of shutterfly they are only seeing a "large thumbnail" of the photo and not the entire picture. And then they tin can view them with a dial up no problem.

What do you think?

RE: seeing a large thumbnail

tbdphotog, thank you much for the respond. The thumbnail thing is obvious and I missed information technology. At present I will load some images and come across what friends say, especially most press.
